About

Welcome to SunnyOutlook: Pushing Through the Shadows! I’m SunnyOutlook, a crafter, gamer, and someone walking through the haze of vision loss with a steady heart. For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a needle and thread, crochet hook, knitting needles, or paintbrush in hand—creating everything from embroidery and quilts to watercolor sketches and beaded treasures. I’ve dabbled in acrylics and gaming too, though quilting and beading have taken a backseat lately. Vision has always been key to these passions, until it began to slip away. But I’m not here to mourn—I’m here to push through.

This journey is personal. Both my grandmothers lost their vision—my paternal grandmother to glaucoma, my maternal to macular degeneration. They shaped me in ways I can’t overstate. My maternal grandmother taught me crochet and quilting, her hands always busy with a needle or hook. I can still hear her cry and feel her sadness the day she told me she couldn’t do what she loved anymore. My paternal grandmother? She never crafted in front of me, but I remember going through her baskets of bobbins, thread, and jars of buttons. The gifts she gave me were arts and crafts like paint-by-numbers, candle-making, and kits to make clothes for my dolls. Those treasures sparked my own creative fire. I wish they had lived in a time like now, with tools and possibilities they never had.

I’m a person of faith—I know the foundation I stand on and where my hope truly lies. That’s what drives me forward, and it’s what I want to share. This blog is my story: finding ways to keep crafting and gaming as my eyes change, uncovering tools that help, and passing on resources I wish my grandmothers had. It’s for anyone losing their sight—and for those who love someone walking this path. Together, we can push through the shadows with resilience and rest in the light.
